Simply charming antique pair of village houses for sale in the village of Carpasio, a high mountain location, some 30 minutes drive to the coast.
Placed at the top of the village, with nearby communal parking, stone steps lead to the two cottages linked by a staircase to a shared roof terrace above the first small cottage, with dramatic mountain views. The small cottage of around 50sq m has a kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom. The second cottage borders on the National Park of the Maritime Alps with a superb garden of 318sq m, stretching up to the woods behind.
The house itself is divided in two apartments , with on the ground floor two large cellars utilised as storage and a workshop with arched ceiling. The first floor has a kitchen, living room, double bedroom and a bathroom (the bathroom has all the connections for services without having been completed). On the second floor is a spacious apartment, in good order with new wiring and plumbing, the roof which is a fully insulated open wood beam structure of new construction with dormer windows, giving character and high ceilings to the internal space. There is a pretty kitchen with an ancient marble sink and country style wood cabinets, all overlooking the beautiful garden and outside roof terrace. There is a sitting room with a large wood burning stove, 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom. Both the boiler and the low output radiators are electric.
In the garden there is an ancient storeroom leading to a panoramic stone terrace with fine mountain views. The garden is of great charm with cherry, greengage, pear, cherry, olive, almond and apricot trees. There is a vegetable garden growing asparagus and raspberries.
Carpasio has an unlimited supply of natural mineral water and the agricultural water for the garden costs €50 p.a. In the garden there is a greenhouse, a tool shed and what has been called a Swedish lounging room, made in wood after a trip to Sweden. This is a cool place with two beds to pass hot summer days reading and relaxing.
Carpasio is a walker's paradise, the mountains are full of wild lavender, orchids and deep granite pools for summer swimming, the National Wildlife Park extends for Ventimiglia to Genova, with kilometers of mountain trails, famous for trekking, mountain biking and natural wildlife. The coast at Arma di Taggia, a half an hour's drive, offers good shopping and a 4 km long sand beach.
