Very marked are the beautiful mountain streams which tumble over granite boulders and create huge and deep rock pools, which are wonderful for swimming in summer. It is in no sense an arid and dry landscape, but rather verdently green with an abundance of flowers and fauna. These mountains are full of the characteristic medieval villages of Liguria, they were always built on rock, taking the high ground and using a defensive position to defend against continous invasion.
